■ Ailsa Craig forms very large, bulbous onions, often reaching well over 1 - 1.5 kg.
■ The flavour of this onion is mild to nice and slightly sweet.
■ The onions also keep for a fairly long time.
■ Sow thinly directly in the garden in rows and cover the seed well.
■ Keep the soil continuously moist.
■ After emergence, do not thin out too much.
■ Harvest the onions when the foliage has died.
■ Allow onions and foliage to post-dry in the field for about 1 week.
