■ Seed onion Brunswijker A flat-rounded red onion, which is fine for long storage.
■ Red onions have a slightly sharper flavour than the yellow ones.
■ Sow thinly directly in the garden in rows (row spacing 25 cm and planting distance 15 cm) and cover the seed well.
■ Keep the soil continuously moist.
■ After emergence, do not thin out too much.
■ Lightly fertilise the soil, preferably with compost.
■ Harvest the onions when the foliage has died.
■ Allow onions and foliage to post-dry in the field for about 1 week.
