Product description

Alouette: red-skinned potato with natural Phytophthora resistance in foliage and tuber.

Alouette is a firm-boiling, yellow-fleshed potato with beautiful red skin. Because of its resistance to Phytophthora in foliage and tubers, Alouette is extremely suitable for organic cultivation. Alouette is easy to grow, gives a high yield and can also be used to make chips.

This relatively new potato variety has natural resistance to the fungal disease Phytophthora. This resistance has been achieved through a traditional method of breeding. It involves a process of years of setting up crosses between potato plants to achieve this result. Several crosses were made with potato varieties that have natural resistance to this disease. Additional crosses were then made, focusing on the quality of the potato among other things, after which this new variety was developed.
